Longtime Derry Resident Dies

Mark Haynes lived in town for more than 30 years.

Mark D. Haynes, Sr., 72, of Derry, NH, died Thursday May 16, 2013 at his home in Derry, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brighton, MA on August 22, 1940, a son of the late Dewey O. and Elizabeth (Floyd) Haynes, and had been a resident of Derry for the past 32 years, formerly living in Brookline, MA. He was a graduate of St. Columbkille High School in Brighton. Mr. Haynes was a US Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He had worked for over 30 years for Cambridge Brands in Cambridge, MA. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley (Perkins) Haynes of Derry; two sons, Mark Haynes, Jr. and his wife Janice of Nashua, NH, and Heath Haynes, Sr. of Derry; two daughters, Shannon Sabbagh and her husband Paul of Windham, NH, and Samantha Confalone and her husband Darrell of Boscawen, NH; seven grandchildren, Brett, Erin, Katelyn, Jordan, Hayleigh, Ryan, and Heath Jr.; one brother, Michael Haynes of Brighton, MA; two sisters, Marie Gomez of Scituate, MA, and Suzanne LaFrazia of Pembroke, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Eileen Haynes.

Calling hours were held Sunday May 1th from 2 pm to 6 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held Monday 10 am in the funeral home. Committal prayers with military honors followed in Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Manchester & Southern NH, 1070 Holt Ave. Manchester, NH 03109.
