Londonderry Soldier Killed in Crash

Cpl. Tyler J. Pimpis, U. S. Army, 22, of Londonderry, NH died Wednesday August 28, 2013 as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Kileen, TX while stationed at Fort Hood. Tyler was born August 9, 1991 in Derry and was a son of Stephen J. Pimpis and Laurie A. Dawkins. He was raised and educated in Londonderry, and was a 2009 graduate of Londonderry High School, where he was a member of the Varsity Lacrosse and Football teams.

Tyler joined the U.S. Army in January of 2010, and served a combat deployment in Afghanistan in 2011 and 2012. Upon his return to the U.S., Tyler was stationed at Fort Hood in TX. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and will forever be remembered for his smile, which could charm anyone.

In addition to his parents of Londonderry, family members include a sister, Kaila Pimpis of Londonderry, a brother and his wife, Michael and Tiffany Pimpis of Westport, MA, his maternal grandmother, Janet Dawkins, of Plaistow, his paternal grandparents, Jerome and Dorothy Pimpis of Manchester, two nephews, Noah and Lincoln, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 4 to 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday September 7th at 10:00am in the funeral home. Donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in the honor of Tyler Pimpis at woundedwarriorproject.org.
