Longtime Londonderry Resident Dies at 51

Marcela A. Smith-Hogan, 51, of Londonderry, NH, died Monday July 1, 2013 at her home. She was born in Miami, FL on May 23, 1962, and had been a resident of New Hampshire since 1989, formerly living in Boxford, MA. Marcela was a graduate of Franklin Pierce University in Rindge NH, and had been employed in the financial services field. She enjoyed history and was a member of the Molly Reid Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Londonderry Historical Society. Marcela was a volunteer with the Sisters of Mercy At Searles Castle in Windham, NH. She loved traveling with her husband, going to art museums, photography and gardening at home.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Matthew G. Hogan of Londonderry; her mother, Luzmira (Busto) Smith of Miami; her father Steven Smith, of Malden, MA; two brothers, Rafael Smith of Naperville, IL, and Luis Smith of Boca Raton, FL; one nephew, Sterling Smith and one niece, Shannon Smith both of Naperville, IL; and her aunt, Jill Graham of Miramar, FL.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the familie’s convenience in Miami, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
