Police: Gunshot Wound May Have Been Self-Inflicted

The investigation is ongoing, and more information on the incident could be made public later today.

Detectives are still investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday night in a home on Buttrick Road.

Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to Elliot Primary Care at 40 Buttrick Road for a report of a subject with a single gunshot wound to the head, according to Police Lt. Tim Jones. The shooting occurred in a home at 30 Buttrick Road, and the man was then brought to Elliot Primary Care and later flown by medical helicopter to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

According to the Londonderry police log, the gunshot wound may have been self-inflicted. The shooting reportedly occurred in a car parked in a garage at 30 Buttrick Road. Police later found the firearm in the garage.

"It did happen in a home," Jones said. "He was brought to the urgent care center, which is when we were called."

Jones said detectives were working late into the night on the case, and are back working on it again this morning. He said it's still too soon to say exactly what happened, but he assured residents that there is no need for public alarm.

"I can't comment on any details of the investigation," he said. "We don't even know if the victim passed away or not."

As of Wednesday night, the man was in critical condition. Jones said he is still alive as of this afternoon.

Jones said more information on the incident could be released later today, once he's had a chance to speak with detectives.
