Manchester, N.H. – A 52-year-old Manchester man told Bellman's Jewelers staff he was looking for an engagement ring and, upon inspecting rings he took one $3,200 ring and ran for the door. Security locks prevented his escape from the Elm Street store and, staff said, he swallowed the 14K white gold ring with Princess cut diamonds. So he took a seat to await police. After surveillance tape was reviewed, the ring was nowhere to be found. Police said Ronald Perley was taken into custody. After a search warrant was granted, he was driven to the Elliot Hospital where x-rays confirmed the presence of a ring inside his body. He was charged with felony theft and falsifying physical evidence, Manchester police said.
