Officers Kill Fox That Bit Derry 5-year-old

Authorities believe it was the same fox that chased a 9-year-old boy the day before.

Derry police report that a fox that bit a 5-year-old girl on the ankle April 10 was located and euthanized in a wooded area of town.

It is believed to be the same fox that aggressively chased a 9-year-old boy on Schurman Drive in Derry the day before.

Derry police, with assistance from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, located the fox after the report of the 5-year-old girl being bitten.

During the search for the animal, authorities closed Don Ball Park and other outside areas of the West Running Brook School and Derry Village School as a precaution. Those areas were reopened after the fox was located.
