I-93 Night Work Near Exit 5 Begins Friday

Night work associated with the construction of the four new Exit 5 Interstate 93 bridges in Londonderry is scheduled to begin Friday.

Night work associated with the construction of the four new Exit 5 Interstate 93 bridges in Londonderry is scheduled to begin Friday.

The work will occur during non-commuter hours, from 8 p.m to 3 a.m., Friday night into Saturday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The work, weather permitting, should take one night to complete. It involves milling and paving the right travel shoulder, and minor traffic delays are expected.

Traffic on I-93 southbound will be reduced to one lane, using a right travel lane closure. The milling and paving will accommodate a future southbound traffic switch.

This work is part of the construction of four new I-93 Exit 5 bridges, Route 28 reconstruction, and I-93 reconstruction in the Exit 5 area.

Severino Trucking. Co., Inc. of Candia, is the general contractor for the $37 million project. It is scheduled for completion in June 2014.
