Londonderry to Reopen Town Manager Search

The town will reopen its search for a new town manager after the leading candidate for the job accepted another position.

"While there were a number of outstanding candidates who applied, and were interviewed, by the time we were able to come close to making an offer, the favored candidate had accepted another position," acting Town Manager William Hart said in an email on Wednesday afternoon.

Given the amount of time that has passed since the job was first advertised, Hart said the Town Council decided it would be best to reopen the search "in order to attract the best candidates available to this position."

Following interviews and the vetting process, Hart said he expects the new town manager to take office on July 1, 2013.

Town Council Chairman John Farrell said in January that the council had narrowed a field of 60 candidates to five and would be conducting interviews with the goal of having a new manager in place by April 1. The search process began in the fall of 2012.

Hart, who is also the town's police chief, has been serving as interim town manager since former Town Manager David Caron resigned over the summer.
