Londonderry Charter School to Open Next Year

Founders Academy Charter School is scheduled to open in January.

A new charter school is coming to Londonderry.

Founders Academy Charter School was one of three new charter schools authorized by the state Board of Education earlier this month. The others were the Gate City Charter School in Nashua and the Mountain Village Charter School in Plymouth.

The Londonderry Times reports that the school will open in January of 2014. The school will start with sixth and seventh graders, before eventually expanding to eighth graders. It will have between 30 and 40 students.

According to the Founders Academy Charter School website, the school's curriculum will focus on a classical education including studies in leadership, history, ethics, debate, business and finance, classical literature, as well as the standard high school curriculum of math, science, languages and the arts. Students will study the thinking of the American Founders and other great philosophers of liberty.
