Lancers Lowdown: 2 Up, 1 Down in LHS Sports

Though Londonderry High School still had five spring sports teams competing in the 2013 season entering Thursday, only four remained after the day's action was complete.

While the LHS baseball and boys lacrosse squads advanced deeper into their respective brackets, the Lancers' softball team joined the boys and girls tennis units as those that have been officially eliminated from postseason competition.

Here's a recap of Thursday's contests and a preview of this weekend's matchups:

Baseball

The top-seeded Londonderry baseball team extended its impressive 2013 run with a 10-0 triumph against Nashua South in the opening round of the Division I tournament. The Lancers host No. 8 Timberlane this Saturday at 4 p.m.

Boys Lacrosse

The fifth-seeded Londonderry boys lacrosse team traveled to Hanover to open the 2013 D-I tournament and upset the No. 4 Marauders, 5-4. The Lancers have another tough task ahead as they travel to neutral turf at Bedford High School this Sunday at 5 p.m. where they'll face second-ranked Bishop Guertin with a trip to the state finale on the line.

Softball

The No. 9 Lady Lancers made the short trek to Hudson Thursday and fell to eight-ranked Alvirne, 10-3, in the first round of the Division I postseason.
