Londonderry Woman a 2014 Patriots Cheerleader

Allison Smedley of Londonderry has earned a spot on the 2014 New England Patriots Cheerleaders squad.

The 28-member squad was chosen from 320 applicants submitted during the open audition process in April.

Lauren Schneider of Nashua is the other New Hampshire cheerleader on 2014 squad.

The final step was a two-week boot camp, including intensive training sessions, choreography, public speaking exercises and promotional appearance drills. the boot camp concluded May 3.

The 2014 squad is 17 veteran cheerleaders and 11 rookies with hometowns in four of the New England states. They include students and professionals, a dentist, a cook, a business banking officer, and a Harvard graduate and neuroscience PhD candidate, Kelly Bennion, of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Patriots Cheerleaders rehearse twice a week and perform at all Patriots home games before nearly 70,000 fans. The squad does numerous promotional events over the yea and travel each spring for the Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar shoot, which will be in Cancun, Mexico, this year. Cheerleaders have also supported many causes and traveled abroad to support the troops.
