Two women have invested in a location in Londonderry.
A pair of Windham business owners are at it again when it comes to delicious treats. Laura Calamari and Desty Masucci, who opened up Sweet Kiwi Frozen Yogurt in Hudson in mid-March, are about to open up their second location in Londonderry this week. According to Laura's husband, Alan Calamari, the opening will take place this Thursday. The new location will take over for Rebecca's Flooring on 66 Gilcreast Road in the plaza across the street from Ford of Londonderry. The two women were featured on a Windham Patch business profile March 4. At the time, Laura Calamari said she was considering another location, but wanted to see how the first one went. The Hudson location occupies half of a 4,000-square-foot unit in a relatively new plaza …
A number of high profile department heads have resigned in the past year, most recently Town Clerk Meg Seymour.
Over the past year, the Town of Londonderry has lost a town manager, a community development director, two senior affairs directors, a fire chief and now a town clerk as well. On Monday night, it was announced that Meg Seymour is resigning as town clerk just three months after she was re-elected. Her resignation comes a month after Stacy Thrall stepped down as senior affairs director only three months after accepting the position. Thrall had replaced Kimberly Bean, who resigned in December to take another job. Fire Chief Kevin MacCaffrie retired in February, and Community Development Director Andre Garron resigned in October to take a position with the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension. All of those departures came after …

The answer is no, but there are fireworks in neighboring Derry.
The answer, in a word, is no. Londonderry does not have a Fourth of July fireworks display. Instead, it typically has a fireworks display during Old Home Days in August. However, Londonderry does have several fireworks stores if you're looking for sparklers or something a bit larger. In addition, Derry does do a big fireworks show. This year's display is scheduled for Thursday, July 4, with a rain date of Friday, July 5. The display commences at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.), with the best suggested viewing areas along Tsienneto Road, Hood Commons, Folsom Road and Crystal Avenue. If you have a question about that you'd like to have answered, send it to marc.fortier@patch.com or post a comment below and we'll dig up an answer. Be sure to …

NH to map climate effects. Executive Councilor Chris Sununu cites 'severe concerns' over contract.
The Executive Council recently approved a $50,000 contract with the University of New Hampshire to provide data and tools to map specific climate change impact across the state. The data will support the Climate Change and Public Health Program of the Bureau of Public Health Protection, which is part of the state Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health Services. It's federal money targeted at "Building Resilience Against Climate Effects." But before it was authorized, Councilor Chris Sununu questioned whether the results would actually be on target. "I will be voting vehemently against item 91," said Sununu. This group "keeps screwing it up." Sununu was referring to a 2012 climate change study from UNH …

Meg Seymour's last day will be June 28.
Town Clerk Meg Seymour has resigned effective this month, according to Acting Town Manager William Hart. Seymour's resignation was announced at Monday's Town Council meeting. Hart said Seymour gave no reason for her resignation in her letter. Her last day will be June 28. Hart said the town will review the legal requirements for replacing the town clerk and take appropriate action. "We are deeply grateful for her years of excellent service to Londonderry, and wish her well in whatever comes next," he said. Reached Tuesday morning by email, Seymour said her resignation was for "personal reasons," but did not elaborate. She has served as town clerk for more than 13 years and was just re-elected in March. At Monday's council meeting, a …

Students who aren't immunized are being asked to stay home from school.
A staff member at Londonderry Middle School has been diagnosed with pertussis, and students who have not been immunized are being asked to stay home from school. In a letter to parents, Londonderry Superintendent Nathan Greenberg said this is the third case of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, at Londonderry Middle School this year. That qualifies it as an outbreak, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services. [Greenberg's full letter is attached as a PDF to the right of this story.] Students who are not immunized are being asked to stay home from school, according to School Board policy. Greenberg said school staff called all 13 families Monday night who have children who are not immunized. They will have to miss…
