The war on drugs is a total disaster. It has succeeded in enriching the police, the prisons, and theRead More government's anti-choice control over what we put into our bodies. Drug habits are medical problems, not criminal ones.

These numbers you are quoting are SKEWED. The NH Department Of Employment Security has NO WAY ofRead More tracking the people that exhausted their unemployment benefits. Which makes them drop off the rolls of the unemployed. I know of several people that fall under this category. Maybe you can dig a little deeper @Dan Tuohy when you are posting an article on the NEWS portion of Patch. Unless you have an ULTERIOR MOTIVE of being a lapdog to to Maggie "Tax & Spend" Hassan that is the most INEPT Governor in NH's history.
jpf2361 April 15, 2014 at 01:42 pm
What has Maggie "Tax & Spend" Hassan done with regard to job creation to qualify herRead More to make the follow statement?? "Gov. Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter) said the data shows good progress. In a statement, she said: "Today’s announcement that participation in the labor force continued to increase while New Hampshire’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent in March, more than two points below the national average, is another encouraging sign that our economy is continuing to strengthen, allowing businesses to grow and create jobs. To keep our economy moving forward, we must remain committed to addressing our challenges by working together on bipartisan solutions in order to strengthen the middle class, support job-creating businesses and encourage innovative economic growth that will allow all of our people to share in our success and prosperity." **************************************************How does RAISING THE GAS TAX qualify as JOB CREATION. How does raiding the existing supposed DEDICATED GAS TAX MONIES qualify as creating jobs? How does Maggie raiding the Rainy Day fund qualify as creating jobs? Raising Taxes and raiding funds has the reverse effect. It stifles jobs creation and forces layoffs as it increases the cost of doing business in NH for many NH Businesses. @Dan Tuohy Why don't you write an article that TELLS WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON IN NH FOR A CHANGE??? Instead of Kissing Maggie Hassan's INEPT butt!!!!!
jpf2361 April 15, 2014 at 02:13 pm
Maggie TAX & SPEND Hassan is the most INEPT Governor NH has ever had in it's History!!! How doesRead More the expansion of Medicaid to 80,000 people secure the Miiddle Class here in NH? Especially once the Feds stop paying for this program. This FOOLISH program will lead to a a SALES TAX OR INCOME TAX OR BOTH and once the Fed's stop paying 100% for this program the CRAP WILL HIT THE FAN. Mark my Words!! NH is in for a RUDE AWAKENING once this happens, we will have LOST OUR TAX ADVANTAGE and you will see NH Companies leaving in Droves for a better deal from another State that will be happy to give them tax breaks to employ their citizens.

@Kim Johnson. Not that it matters, but you have your facts wrong. President Barack Obama nominatedRead More Leonhart for the position of DEA Administrator on 2/2/2010. The issue here is people should be able to shop at a store without being followed or have the NSA track each word I am typing.

How broke are we you ask? Well we are 17trillion $ broke. Is that a lot of money? Well lets see. AllRead More single family homes combined in this country are worth about 16Trillion $. If none of us had a mortgage and everyone sold their home and gave the money to the gvmt we would still be broke. That's effin broke.

This was out in my neck of the woods. All really great kids, college bound and starting their adultRead More lives. Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

OK, let me take a wild guess here...This is Massachusetts so it shouldn't be that difficult toRead More figure it out. These two crack heads in their 40's are on SSI, claiming some phony disability and are living on SSI in a Section 8 apartment in a senior complex. Probably a good guess right? They put senior citizens in grave danger and will probably get a slap on the wrist and sent right back to live in the elderly housing... just a guess of course but probably pretty accurate. Either that or they are living in an apartment with one of their parents and are not on the lease but yet still live there...only in MA!
Geoff Burton April 15, 2014 at 10:40 pm
Kathleen I don't get the Massachusetts reference, having said that I think your about right.
century April 15, 2014 at 11:30 pm
Kathleen, your right. As for housing, the less number of homeless, the more grant money the city andRead More state receives for housing. It happens all the time in Pennsylvania. Free loaders like the crackheads mentioned in the story is why people who have legimate disabilities are judged as liars and have to fight for their rights.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

I am sad to learn of this. While I never shopped with them, I think they had wonderful stylishRead More quality clothing. I don't think high prices had anything to do with their closing. The retail business today is very difficult to be in. Retail prices should be on the high side for this type of product. People need to earn a living! I always hate to hear when a business closes.

: ( So very disappointing. Seeing all the sales they were offering was a tip. I used to buy fromRead More their catalog years ago and was happy to see them close to home. The young people of today are into styles unappealing to those of us who prefer the classic look, but lately could not find anything that cried "buy me" on the racks. steve forte April 16, 2014 at 07:44 am
What happened is even thou people thought nothing of paying $45 - $55 even $100 for a pair of jeansRead More in the 80's they want to buy em for $19 now. Try giving employees health ins when you are making $1 off of a pair of jeans. Good luck with that.
