Mark D. Haynes, Sr., 72, of Derry, NH, died Thursday May 16, 2013 at his home in Derry, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brighton, MA on August 22, 1940, a son of the late Dewey O. and Elizabeth (Floyd) Haynes, and had been a resident of Derry for the past 32 years, formerly living in Brookline, MA. He was a graduate of St. Columbkille High School in Brighton. Mr. Haynes was a US Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He had worked for over 30 years for Cambridge Brands in Cambridge, MA. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking. Ronald James Levesque, 48, of Derry, NH passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Newton, MA. He was born on December 31, 1964 in Nashua, NH, a son of Richard and Anita (Smith) Lavoie. Ronald was a softball umpire. He enjoyed fishing and was a huge New England Patriots fan. 3rd Brigade Combat Team loses 1st Lt. Paul DeMeo; investigation in progress.
UPDATE: 1st Lt. Paul DeMeo of Derry died after passing out during a routine brigade run last week. According to an email from the Army, DeMeo passed out during a "BDE run" on May 14 and died upon reaching the hospital. These brigade runs are typically performed by military units around sunrise for physical fitness. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Peabody Funeral Homes in Derry. Richard J. Harrower, 60, of Salem, NH died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 26, 1952, a son of the late John and Edith (Colbath) Harrower. He was born in Somerville, MA, raised in Burlington, MA and lived in Salem, NH for over 25 years. Richard was an electrician for Burlington Engineering for 15 years. He was a former member of the Billerica Rod and Gun Club in Billerica, MA. He was survived by two sons, Benjamin Harrower and his wife Brenda of Abington, MA and Adam Harrower and his wife Sara of Burlington, MA, as well as three grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia and Nicholas. Pearl Ida McQuarrie, 78, of Londonderry, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Pearl was born September 26, 1934 in Houlton, ME and was a daughter of the late Albert and Olive (McCordic) Suitter. She was raised and educated in Houlton, moved to NH in 1962, and has been a resident of Londonderry since 1964. Mrs. McQuarrie was a homemaker, who helped her husband in managing McQuarrie Trucking for many years. Pearl had a love for music that inspired and touched many lives. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at bluegrass field pickin’ parties. After 86 wonderful years, Ruth Thompson Brooks of Derry, New Hampshire passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013. Born August 17, 1926 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Ruth spent her childhood with her parents Ernest and Signe Thompson, and sister, Jean, in Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut. She loved her alma mater Mount Holyoke College, where she earned a B.A. in French with a minor in music. A lifelong learner, she went on to earn an advanced degree in Chemistry from Wesleyan University. In June, 1954, she married photographer and clarinetist David Brooks. Ruth and David lived most of their years together in Connecticut, had two sons, vacationed in the lakes region of New Hampshire, and later chose to retire to picturesque New Hampshire. …

Richard G. Higgins, 71, of Londonderry, NH, died Saturday May 4, 2013 at his home in Londonderry. He was born in Medford, MA on October 28, 1941, a son of John E. and Catherine (Grant) Higgins. A resident of Londonderry since 1982, he formerly lived in Boston, MA. He was raised in Melrose, MA, and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School in Malden, MA. Mr. Higgins was a Vietnam Combat Veteran and a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point in 1963. He was an Airborne Ranger and an artillery officer, and he served with units in Hawaii and Germany. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
