LHS Grad Drafted by NFL's Houston Texans

Ryan Griffin made a surprise visit to Londonderry last week.

Londonderry High School graduate Ryan Griffin was drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of last month's National Football League Draft, according to the New Haven Register.

Griffin, who played tight end for the University of Connecticut, was chosen with the 201st pick in the draft, one of five UConn grads selected.

"I haven't done anything yet," Griffin told the New Haven Register. "I haven't put on shoulder pads, so I can't say that I am just going to walk in and take a spot. I have to earn everything that I am going to get, but I am ready to do that."

Following the draft, Griffin swung by Londonderry High School last week, visiting with the school's trainer.

"Lancer Power got a visit from Ryan Griffin today before he heads to Rookie Camp! #traditionnevergraduates" athletic trainer Meghan Powers tweeted, along with a photo of the NFL draftee.

According to the Union Leader, Griffin grew up in Londonderry, but played football at the New Hampton School for three years before transferring to Londonderry High School for his senior season.
